After
task
Central Group undertook the extensive roofing and cladding work for the new school. The project included the installation of a Euroclad Aluminium Double Skin seam standing roof, featuring intricate details such as box section gutters, secure rainwater pipes, and associated flashings. For the walls and facades, Kingspan composite cladding was used, incorporating secret-fix wall panels to provide a high-performing insulated solution with an aesthetic appeal. Insulation was installed prior to the aluminium sheets, which were then overlaid with photovoltaic cells to harness solar energy and enhance the building’s sustainability.
approach
Our in-house design team worked closely with the architect to ensure that the new build met all specified requirements. Before commencing work, we delivered detailed drawings and complete specifications to align with the architectural intent and achieve the desired building standards. The aluminium sheets were crane-lifted onto the metal frame and assembled by Central operatives, ensuring precision and efficiency throughout the process. The roofing and cladding systems come with a 25-year guarantee, underscoring our commitment to quality and durability.
solution
Rhydyfelin Primary School, having reached the end of its serviceable life, was demolished to pave the way for a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide first-class education in a 21st-century setting. The new school, completed in time for the 2023/24 academic year, features 16 classrooms along with multi-use rooms, shared areas, offices, toilets, and a kitchen, offering a modern and versatile educational environment.
The aluminium sheets were complete with a Stucco embossed aluminium finish providing a U-value of 0.12, while the cladding featured a Spectrum finish in a moonstone oyster colour, adding to the building’s aesthetic appeal. This project showcases Central Group’s expertise in delivering high-quality, sustainable building solutions tailored to our clients’ specific needs. The new Rhydyfelin Primary School stands as a testament to our dedication to excellence in construction and design.
