After
task
The homes were constructed to Passivhaus standards, having very high levels of insulation, high-performance windows with insulated frames, airtight building fabric and a mechanical ventilation heat recovery system. The buildings emit lower carbon emissions and provide low energy costs for tenants and contribute to local housing needs and the fight to tackle fuel poverty.
approach
The local community are thrilled with the exceptional quality of the new homes and their innovative design. Importantly, fuel bills will be kept to a minimum, which is crucial amidst rising energy costs and the cost of living crisis.
We are proud to have made an essential contribution to this ultra-energy efficient development, hats off to Rick Rigby and the CRSW Contracts Team, John Jones and Haydn Burke, thank you for bringing the expertise needed to achieve this project.
solution
We worked for Willmott Dixon and Caerphilly County Borough Council, the material supplier was BBS Facades and we used Rockpanel cladding.
The Council is the first in Wales to develop homes to Passivhaus standard using a steel-framed solution, with funding provided by the Welsh Government’s Innovative Housing Programme.
